SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Antioch. Gordian III, 238-244. Tetradrachm (Billon, 27 mm, 11.90 g, 12 h), Issue I, 238-240. ΑΥΤΟΚ Κ Μ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟC CЄB Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right, seen from behind. Rev. ΔΗΜΑΡΧ ЄΞΥCΙΑC (sic!) / S C Eagle with spread wings standing facing, head to left and holding wreath in beak. McAlee 860. Prieur 282. RPC VII.2, 3488. Extremely rare with this spelling error. Slightly rough, otherwise, very fine.

RPC VII.2 records three exmaples with this spelling error on the reverse (ЄΞΥCΙΑC instead of ЄΞOΥCΙΑC). According to the same reference, the word is misspelled on another die as well, this time as ЄΞΟϹΙΑϹ.
